To My Anonymous Friend

 Hello, Kindred Spirit!

Just wanted to give you a proper and official welcome to the blog! I've really been appreciating your comments, next to story reviews, blog comments are some of my absolutely favorite things! So glad to meet a fellow period drama/classics friend... and an AIO fan!! Have you listened to the newest album yet, 28 Hours? We need to talk about that sometime! 😆 Oh, by the way, do you have a pen name or anything that you go by online?

I usually put a period drama meme on these welcome posts, but I decided to use an AIO meme this time... 😏 Hope you continue to enjoy the blog!

  1. This meme made me laugh SO hard, it’s perfect! and Hilarious😂
Thank you so much! I’m having a blast exploring here, hence all the comments (; I hadn’t noticed just HOW many I was actually writing! Sorry for the overload.... Yes, I do actually! Think Emily Starr, as in New Moon, but just the Emily. (I went with anonymous because I couldn’t figure out how not to-I’m not majorly good at computers!) I’ve heard half of it, and can’t wait to hear the rest! have you? I’d love to talk AIO😄

    1. Hi, Emily!

No, I love your comments!! They're few and far between on here... it totally makes my day 😄

Love those Emily books!! If you make a comment, there's a drop-down menu that lets you comment with a name... not that you have to, I'll just assume it's you 😄 I'm bad with computers too... I actually have to moderate my own comments on the blog because it's weirdly screwed up.

Yes, I've heard five episodes of 28 Hours and I'm going insane waiting for the last one!! It's like the foundations of my Odyssey fanbase have been severely shaken, LOL! I mean... people have been saying for years *cue ominous voice* "The Chairman is still out there" but I always thought it'd be one of those things that'd never happen, like Connie getting married. (poor Connie 😥) But it was Jillian that really pulled the rug out from under me. It's gonna take me a while to pull my thoughts together after that shocker!!

This is really cool, btw, I'm in a facebook AIO fan club and a LOT of the AIO people are actually on it! I've talked to Phil Lollar, Kathy Buchanan, Katie Leigh, and John Fornof, on occasion. And they have occasional Skype interviews with AIO cast, the last was with Townsend Coleman! You should check it out sometime 😄

Oh, if there's ever a topic/movie/book you want me to post on, let me know at any time! I'm open for ideas!!

  2. Well then that’s practically perfect in every way! Because I love being able to write them😜 likeminded individuals not being overly abundant hereabouts, it’s a treat to “talk” to you! Thanks, I see it now! Not sure how I managed to miss it before.... typical me😆 now to find a surname yet to complete it!

I know, right! It literally ( jillianism intended) blew our socks off.
And she’s SMART. That shocked me almost more than the agent part😆though Real Jillian is somehow even funnier than before, even whilst being visibly intelligent! I like the fact that she’s still a little quirky (; mayonnaise by the spoonful, anyone?😜And Finally Connie is in on something! So tell me this. Just how bad IS Sky Feldstein? Is she old news by the 5th episode? I’m kinda saving these last few for the long boring hours coming up in potato harvesting time.... ( figuring I don’t have to go through the torture of waiting a whole week between episodes this way) but I’m dying to know what happens!

think they’re gearing up for a longer arc again, what with the Chairman and all? It’s sure been long enough since we heard from him.... and Tasha showing up in album 72 has to be for a good reason too! (Or else. I’ll be furious if she disappears for ages again!!)

Really?!?! Woah.... that is amazing. I’ll have to check that out! I can’t imagine actually talking to them😂 I’d be practically star struck!

I’ll be sure to do just that! Thankyou for the opportunity, I have a feeling I’ll be taking you up in that in the not-so-distant future🙃😄

  3. I just finished listening to 28 Hours yesterday and it was craaaazy 😱 My sister and I were totally freaking out and my brother thought we were being weird, LOL! Realizing that Jillian is smart totally blew me away... I wonder if they planned that from the beginning or if they wrote that in later? Because there was absolutely no foreshadowing that I can remember. Novacom they built up to for weeks and this one they just threw at us like a bomb 😆

So Sky Feldstein is pretty big in this. She's in the last episode. I'll have to relisten again, because this story is pretty deep, I don't think I got it all the first tiem around! I will say, the last episode is incredibly intense. As in INCREDIBLY. It just about beats Exit for all the craziness. I was actually scared to death that something terrible was going to happen. (And I'm not going to tell you if it does or not 😆) If you don't like spoilers, stop reading here, LOL! 😆 (It's just a small one though) What was really spooky was the Chairman saying his traditional line again. "It's over... for now." Yikes!!!

I'm 95% sure that the next couple of albums are going to start a relationship arc for Jason. Connie is really starting to tease him about Jillian and he acts so hilariously nervous about it. Now that she's not as stupid as I thought she was, I really wouldn't mind that... I'm really hoping we do get a relationship arc!! We need a major Odyssey family with kids! Eugene and Katrina can't have kids and for some reason Penny and Wooton haven't...

Hey, if you have time, check out the "Yet Another Period Drama Blog". It's not being updated anymore, but there are hundreds of absolutely fantastic articles, that's the blog that inspired me to start my own. The writer is so good and has an amazing sense of humor too!

  4. Oh boy, this waiting business is hard.
HE DID? 😲Again? Wow, he’s nothing if not consistent.
In that case, it better not be another however many years before we hear from him again. How about in album 74, eh!

Isn’t it interesting how much more fun it is to listen WITH someone? Sisters are the best!! Actually I adore spoilers, ( I know, I’m weird that way) so thank you! Now I definitely-for-sure-beyond-a-shadow-of-a-doubt can’t wait to listen to this!!! 😄I listened to the first 3 like six times, also the old episodes with Jillian, such as Nightmares by Constance. And while there wasn’t much by the way of foreshadowing, they definitely make you appreciate Jillian’s acting skills! This girl is really good. (I think Kathy B said she’d planned this since the beginning, so!) I’m not sure she’s telling the whole truth tho, for some reason. Jillian, not KB!
Ahh, poor Jason🙃 though I’d be teasing him too! Yesss, we need that relationship arc to happen.... for good and valid reasons that the writers will surely realize themselves. I hope. Aaaand I have got to stop writing mile long comments. They’re too much fun!

    1. Exactly!! I couldn't stand waiting a couple of decades... I want him apprehended and put into prison for life!!

Here's a spooky thought.... a really, really spooky thought. So this Chairman is basically trying to take over the world through mind control... what if they're implying that he's... like... the antichrist or something? I mean he's so vague and in the background and so powerful... Maybe I think too deep in this, but some of those stories seem to broach end-times subjects.

Yes!!! So, spoiler again, but basically Jason's life is going to be at risk in the next couple of episodes. So my sister and I were like shaking each other and screaming in disbelief... (yes, we were overreacting, LOL, and my brothers thought it was hilarious...) but anyway. That's how extreme we got. Like as in hyperventilating extreme 🤣 I think we wind each other up...

I actually never liked Jillian... after 28 Hours, I really changed my mind about her character! I'm still slightly stunned... but I'm so excited about the possibilities for future stories!!

Noooo, keep writing as much as you can! TBH, you have resurrected this blog from the depths of oblivion. Notice that I hadn't posted in a looong time until you started commenting?? And I put a hold on Checkmate and some of the other stories. So now I'm posting again. Thanks so much! 😄

    2. That IS spooky! And not at all impossible. Or even far fetched. More and more I’m discovering real world happenings eerily similar to the things I heard in AIO as a child! They go a lot deeper than the average kid listening will realize, and I think that’s why so many people don’t stop listening as they become adults.(Like us)

Ahh brothers😂 my sisters and I do the same thing all the time!! It gets so bad that a mere couple of words can send us off into gales of helpless laughter, unable to return to a sober state for the life of us. With nothing in our systems but sisterhood and whatever story set us off. I predict it’ll come to a record breaking high when we finally listen to these episodes!!
🤯Now I’m terrified for Jason!! and I don’t even know why. But, assuming you’d break it to me if he died,(permanently, that is. If it was temporary like last time, I’d survive) I shall try to keep on keeping on until I actually hear it😶hurry up,potatoes!

Oh absolutely, those are magic words for me! though You may be surprised how long my As Much As Possible is....
Hey, that goes for you too! You have a real talent, and I love that you’re sharing it. (and that you’ve started posting again!) so glad I could be of encouragement, Seriously, it would be such a shame if you’d stopped😢

    3. Hope you see this comment, since I totally forgot to reply earlier! And yes, AIO is so incredibly profound! I absolutely hated Novacom when I listened to it as a kid, but going back to relisten at 19, I was absolutely amazed. It's unbelievably well done and seems almost prophetic! Yeah, I listen to at least one AIO episode a day, especially when I'm not in the middle of an ongoing audiobook. I drive a lot, so I listen to them in the car. Right now though, I'm listening to the unabridged audio of The Count of Monte Cristo. When I'm done with that I'll have to watch and review one of the film adaptions!

Sisters are a gift from God!! A special kind of friend! 😄 And brothers too, but they can be... well... annoying at times, LOL! 😂

Has Jason died temporarily before?? 😳 Or do you mean when he pretended to get blown up by that creepy guy with the electric cane and the raspy voice? You should've seen my sisters and me on that one!! 😂 Um... what would you say if I said he did die?? Do you... uh... want a spoiler? 🤔

I won't say anything unless you tell me to 😏

Do you live on a potato farm? Because that is totally awesome. Potatoes are my absolutely favorite food ever...

Yes! I was in desperate need of encouragement and a steady commenter is one of the best things in the world!! I'm inspired to dig through my post archives and see what else I've got lurking about in my drafts... There's so much I want to write about! And, like I said before, suggestions would be marvelous!

    4. I know, right! I guess they put the “due to the intensity of a few scenes in this episode, we recommend parents listen with their children” bits in for a reason, even if we always totally disregarded them😂 Moral of the story, always listen to/read something again when you’re older. I always find so much more the second time!

I guess some of these things could kind of be seen coming from a long way off, like they knew it was Andromeda’s end goal, (or whatever it’s called irl) and it was only a matter of time until it came up, almost....

Precisely☺️ It sounds like you have plenty of experience with both! I’ve always wanted to have little brothers, tbh....
Guys are sorely outnumbered in my family😂

Yes, that’s the one (: the Whisperer must be the most hilarious villain in all of AIO history! Albeit unintentionally. that laugh.... 😳Oh. My. Goodness.😳
You don’t mean.... you cannot possibly actually MEAN....
oh boy. Would they really and truly do that to us😰?
Going into shock here, can you tell?! Yes I want a spoiler!!! I might regret it later, but I’ll burst otherwise😶

Not a potato farm exactly, though it’s more of a small field than a garden😆we grow as much of our own food as possible, and one year’s worth of potatoes takes us about a week’s worth of time to harvest! I’m always so happy when its all over but the eating.... but this year I’m looking forward to it, for obvious reasons!

      Isn’t it amazing how God works? It never ceases to amaze me how infinitely perfect is the fit of the puzzle pieces He puts together....Where we least expect them to go! I’m so happy we got to “sit” next to each other (;
I look forward to seeing what you turn up!

    5. Out of curiosity, have you ever watched The One And Only Genuine Original Family Band? Or Road to Avonlea?(though I’m guessing you’ve seen that) I have zillions of suggestions for things to read and watch, but never having written one myself, I’m not all that sure what counts as blog-able material! If you throw me a few pointers, I’ll be only too happy to make suggestions🙃

Question! what did you think of Kristin from Judge Me Tender? (Assuming you’ve heard it) is that the biggest family AIO ever saw or what?!

      Delete
    6. LOL, now every time I hear that warning, I get so excited… cause it means it's one of the really good episodes! Like, this is the adventure stuff! Yes, definitely, I'm so glad I got over my intense hatred of the Novacom saga 😆

We have even boys and girls… five and five! But equal numbers doesn't necessarily mean equality in other respects… like equal wit 😏

Yes! The Whisperer!! "I… want… applesauce!!!" "Mmm, good with porkchops!" That episode was so bizarre… I'll have to relisten to it!!

Ooookay… you want a spoiler?? Last chance to back out here, going once, going twice…

Here it is. Jason is in an incredibly dangerous brain surgery (not gonna tell why, cause I don't wanna give too much away) but… he… flatlines. As in his heart stops. As in he's literally dead. I totally freaked out. It was the scariest thirty seconds of Odyssey that I've ever heard in my life. They were using a defibrillator and were able to bring him back but… OH. MY. WORD. It was torture!!! 😱😱😱

That's awesome!! We grow most of our own food too, and butcher our own meat and we even have our own milk and eggs! We didn't get too many potatoes this year (sadly, because they're my absolutely favorite food…) but today I canned eighty quarts of peaches and forty of tomato sauce!! Listened to AIO most of the time, but watched Little Women at the end. 🥰

Ah! Yes! I watched the Family Band!! It was totally bizarre 😆 And yes, I have all seven seasons of Road to Avonlea and most of them are great! I should do a post on the best ROA episodes!!

Hm… Judge Me Tender. I'll listen to that ASAP and let you know! I know I've heard it before, just am blanking currently. I need to hear it again!

    7. Really?! that’s incredible, Lucky you!! Now all I need now is 4 more brothers and we’d match perfectly....

      😶😯😧😲😩😭
Now I know what Kathy Buchanan meant about making fans cry.... Oh my goodness!!! They actually did that?!? To
Jason. I think my heart just stopped right along with his.... Wowww, Yikes! I’m having an extremely hard time imagining all this, let alone actually processing it. thank goodness he makes it.... This is just a personal opinion, but I’m fairly certain Odyssey is only half there without him!

That’s a whole lot of canning! So do you have a pressure canner then, (maybe two?) to get so much done so quickly? Mmmm, those peaches sound so good.... Our tomatoes are nowhere near ready for that much sauce😅 in October, probably! It wasn’t a good growing year for potatoes, I’m guessing? That IS sad.... Funny question, but do you have a favourite kind of potato? Either to grow or to eat. I think we have about 5 different varieties growing in our garden, deep-dark-purple all the way through included😜

Woah. Are we sure we’re not twins? Because we get to sound more alike with every message we send! Like, right down to the teensy tiny details that our lifestyles consist of😄 (except we live on opposite sides of the border) this is so cool! Do you hunt, or do you raise your own meat?
She didn’t play a very big part, which might be why! The fact that she has 14 siblings struck me as so funny, because the biggest families before this have been a maximum of 5😂 there doesn’t seem to be an in-between! D’you think maybe they’re homeschooled? Just imagine trying to get that many to school on time....

      Delete
    8. Did she really say that? Well, I guess it worked! Exactly! I was so done with Odyssey for a minute or so… I mean, it was REAL. And it was SCARY. 😲😱 I totally agree with your opinion, Odyssey without Jason would be awful.

Yes, we have two pressure canners! And it's a good thing… we're overloaded with produce!! Today I did pepper relish and sauerkraut. Chopped up some jalapenos and my hands are buuuurrrrrrrrrning!!!! 🥵🔥🔥

Oh, definitely! My favorite potatoes are the redskins! So much flavor! I don't think I've ever had purple potatoes though! That's pretty cool!

Yep! That's what we are. Long lost twins 😆 Oh! Opposite sides of the border, eh? Did I say somewhere that I was American? Cause I don't remember mentioning that… which must mean that you're… a Canadian? As in the same as L M Montgomery?? Or are you south of the border? Or maybe I shouldn't ask 😏

We do both hunting and raise our own meat. Our living room is absolutely lined with animal mounts from all the hunting my dad and brothers and grandpa did… We're really outdoorsy sort of people, however you say that.

Whoa… fourteen siblings!! That's crazy! The only family I know that is (almost) that big is… well… "Gilbert the 2nd's" (😜) mom, who has thirteen siblings. All homeschooled She even helped deliver some of the youngest! Thank goodness I've never had to do that!!

Yeah, I bet getting to school on time is a pain! We've all been homeschooled.

      Delete
    9. She did! In the podcast about Album 73, I think it was.

Okay, where’s the movie camera? And the film crew? Nobody is this much alike!😜Except for us, it would seem. I could list about 3 more ways we are more alike than different, based on what you just wrote.... suffice it to say, we could practically each write our life-stories, exchange them, n pretend they belonged that way....and only those extremely close to us would ever know the difference😂 as Wooton said, “It’s nice to know there’s a spare me in case I ever lose myself!”

Ouch, that’s nasty. I’ve been there with the hot pepper afterstory, so I totally sympathize with you😆 Tip: if at all possible, try not to immerse your arms in water too deep, it seems like it just spreads the burning! It’s almost as if the oils from the peppers “migrate”.

I don’t think you said which nationality you were, but you mentioned that you loved living in the Midwest, if I’m remembering right....(occasionally when I type in your name other things you’ve written will also show up, so it may not even have been on here) and from there on out I just assumed! Well I don’t live in Mexico, that’s for sure😜Yes, like our beloved LMM! only considerably farther north. CONSIDERABLY.

Now what made me think you might say that🤔Must be a case of It takes one to know one....
I really hope they do them homeschooled! There needs to be an accurate representation of this side of things too in AIO! (This being one of the similarities I mentioned before) The Shepard family really didn’t count, if you ask me. And not Covid Homeschoolers, please! That happens to be an entirely different species, not to be confused with the Originals.

Oh goodness, I’m not sure I could handle that😬 I’d be quite possibly more stressed than Mrs. Mama-to-be!

    10. Sorry it’s so late! I got distracted, and forgot to look at the time again after typing....

    11. Surprise! You're on Candid Camera! 😜

LOL! This is awesome!! Never thought I'd meet my long-lost twin online!! Aren't we lucky? 😄 Oh, I forgot that Wooton quote!! Love that!! Isn't Wooton just a wonderful character??

Ugh. Everything I know about hot peppers, I found out the hard way 😣

Oh, yeah! I am a proud Midwesterner! 😆 That is totally amazing! 🎵Waaaaay up north🎵 Though I guess not quite to Alaska… 😏 When I was two, I went to Canada with my parents and grandparents, bear-hunting. I was the only lucky one that trip, I went home with a teddy bear. Dad and Grandpa went home empty-handed… 😆 They went again a couple years later and we have a full-mount bear in the living room as a result.

Yup. I know a lot of Covid homeschoolers. Proud to say I am an Original!

No problem about the time! I just check the blog whenever, so it really doesn't matter.

Just posted something really fun! Check the latest post, hope you enjoy! 😄

  5. Wow, really? That’s so cool! And you’re right, it is amazing!! (And that’s just from the snippet I saw now) Thank you for recommending it, Her writing style is so much fun to read!! I foresee many hours of delightful diversion to be had there when boredom strikes😄

    1. Yes, she's amazing! I have read practically the entire blog... and laughed hysterically through most of it. I got so many good film recommendations through it too, and I even became something of a Les Mis fan. Not the story, really, but I adore the music!! And she introduced me to The Scarlet Pimpernel. Which practically changed my life 😆🥰

If you ever have a chance, definitely check out the book she wrote, Only a Novel. It's absolutely fantastic!! You can get it on Amazon. Definitely not something you want to miss. Five stars, heartily recommended!! I ought to review it on here...

      Delete
    2. Oh my yes, the Scarlet Pimpernel....
what I want to know is, why is this considered dusty ancient literature designed to torture students? This is the Good Stuff, people!

It’s going on my list right now! Oh yeah, I’d love to see you do a review.

  6. Commenting waaay down here because that’s all my device would let me do.

    Aha, so that’s it😄
Oh So lucky! I’ve literally always wished I had a twin, so this is like a dream come true....

Yes!! He’s incredible.... And while we’re on the topic of Wooton, that reminds me of what Penny said😄 “Wooton, I know you have a brother who LOOKS like you, but this is someone who THINKS like you!” I know, I’m just full of Basset quotes lately.... but they fit so well!

😂Johnny Horton, right? I can’t believe you know that song! Nope, not quite to Alaska (; though I’m far enough north that Edmonton is a significant step south!

Wow, you did?! That’s awesome! Aww, sounds like you got the best bear of the bunch🥰 Yeah, those bears can be tough to get! on the rare occasion their hide actually happens to be penetrable, they tend to wander off so far before realizing that they’re actually dead, it’s hard to tell if you truly got it😂 I love the thought of having a bear in the living room! though how to keep the little people from riding it might prove to be an interesting dilemma🤔

    1. When I first found and read through Yet Another Period Drama blog, I was really wishing I could have the same kind of experience that Amy had… she found some wonderful kindred spirits on that blog… years before I came along… and I felt so dreadfully left out. I didn't think there were any more girls like that, so definitely a dream come true 😄

Gotta love those Basset quotes! He's so ridiculously silly, but he can be amazingly profound. And so sweet too! Did you listen to the episode where he and Penny go to Pittsburgh? She's upset about her hometown changing and he tells her that one thing that will never change is his love for her. And my heart so totally melted 🥰 He even gives her tickets to Water World for fifty years in the future, just to prove that their marriage is gonna last.

Ohhh boy. I've listened to sooo many Johnny Horton songs. Sinking of the Bismarck, Battle of New Orleans, John Paul Jones… and so on and so forth. When it comes to music, I'm pretty old-school. Other than the obvious classical and folk songs, I love Elvis, Glen Campbell, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Sons of the Pioneers… all kinds of those old singers.

Yep! Still have that bear, sitting on my closet shelf. Good memories 🥰 The bear is standing and on a pedestal so we surprisingly haven't had any trouble with kiddos riding it, but they all want to pet it. Grandpa had a huge bear rug that he kept on the floor and he stuck a piece of paper on it that said "Don't step on me, I bite. -Dad" I firmly believe that if someone stepped on that thing, it'd be Grandpa that'd be doing the biting and not the bear so… LOL 🤣

    2. Ugh, sorry it’s taken so long for me to reply!! Between just plain lost-phone-syndrome, helping paint a house and Combine season, things had been fairly hopping around here...

It’s strange how often The Right Time is much, much later than we wish it was....
But always turns out to be in perfect timing with the Master Plan!! Aren’t we glad we got a “Wait for my timing”, and not a “Sorry, that’s not in your best interest”?

Yes!! With the terrible pizza that she remembered being so good.... you just described him perfectly! 😍It was the sweetest thing.... if I ever get married, that’s precisely the brand of love I’m looking for! Not the tickets to WaterWorld for 50 yrs in the future necessarily😜but that Truly Forever-Not determined by what’s going on around us variety....

A girl after my own heart (; I love the oldies! Hey, have you ever heard of Stomping Tom Connors? Or Wilf Carter.... (tho I guess you’d know him as Montana Slim) also, I was listening to music earlier and thought of a song you might enjoy.... since you like the Bar J Wranglers!
Always keep an edge in your knife-Corb Lund

      I can just picture that😄 that’s priceless!!

Speaking of grandpas, I’ve helping paint my grandparents house.... (and since they had 9 children, it’s a fair sized job!)The guys all being well occupied in the fields, and the house-painters too busy as it is, we girls are tackled it.
It looks practically new again if I do say so myself!

    3. Lost-phone-syndrome! LOL! I go through that at least once a week… 😣 At least I have a laptop for writing/blogging, or I'd never get any of it done! Man, I know how crazy it can get! I just let the sauerkraut mold because I was so busy with everything else, I forgot to can it! Luckily, some of it can be salvaged. But now I have to buy more cabbage myself and start over to make up for what I messed up… 😐

I saw a church sign that said "God is still writing your story. Quit trying to steal the pen." Lol! I love that quote… It is so true! He always knows best. I also once heard a minister say that God always answers a prayer. It may be "yes", "no", or "maybe", but He ALWAYS answers. 😄

Yes, definitely! The Gilbert-and-Anne type of love. Together forever, no matter what happens. Everyone is in such a mixed-up mess in today's society… it's sad. Whatever happened to "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live"??

Don't know Stomping Tom Connors, I'll have to look him up! Montana Slim sounds familiar… Hey, do you listen to the Bar J?? They're totally my favorite singing group ever!! I just found a couple of their live recorded shows on DVD and was so ecstatic that if I knew how to do a cartwheel, I would have!!

Wow! Have fun painting!! In my lifetime, I've painted approximately a dozen houses and a church. (It's a looong story, LOL!)

    4. Aww, that’s too bad.... Life, eh? Good thing some of it was salvageable!! May the second batch come with fewer distractions😆

Oooh, I’ve got to write that one down! That’s PERFECT.

He’s pretty much the epitome of all things Canadian😄 Particularly for the maritimes...
Tim Hus coming in right after him!
Well I’ve been listening to their songs lately because I’ve seen you mention them!
Out of curiosity, what’s your favourite song of theirs?

This sounds like a story I want to hear sometime!! That’s a whole lot of painting.... you must be an expert by this time😅
I’ve done exactly one house before this! (and log, which is so much different)

      Preeecisely. Whatever happened to that?
This is what happens when people mess with a perfect thing!! And it is so incredibly sad....

The garden is getting emptier and emptier these days, and other than a few covered melons n drying beans.... only the fields ( and let me tell you, there’s enough of those we won’t be finished for positively AGES yet) and the long-awaited ( and maybe just slightly dreaded) harvesting-of-potatoes are yet on the Autumn To-Do-ASAP list. Oh, and the cabbages. I’m thinking we’re a couple of weeks behind you in terms of gardens!! But would you believe we’re already getting frost overnight? We adapt pretty fast, but going from +30 Celsius during the day to +10ish... it feels pretty cold! the sun is still warm, but summer has definitely left us!!
It flew by so fast.... I had one final swim last week, and it felt considerably more like a polar-dip😆 it took a solid two hours for me to thaw out, and I think I might’ve set a new record in teeth-chattering😜

    5. Oh definitely, the best Bar J song is Rawhide!! It gives me chills... and I have such a perfect visual for that song... you know how you can see things in your head like you're watching it irl? The other best Bar J's (probably not all on youtube) are High Noon, Jerusalem Ridge, Great Gettin' Up Morning, Old Man River, Cool Water, Don't Fence Me In, Cimarron Roll On... ugh, there are so many I can't even think of right now!! I need to do a post on them.

Here's the short version... Mostly the painting is for our rentals, but we've moved three times (twice out of state) and the church we remodeled into a food pantry... Doubt I'm an expert though... just a grumpy hater of painting with a sore neck, LOL!

Man, I had to google those Celsius temps... I have no idea how the scale works, LOL! So that would be 86 degrees Farenheit... ugh, miserably hot! And down to 50 degrees Farenheit... good and chilly! I love the fifties 😄

The last swim of summer is usually the most miserable... I remember once when we all went swimming in September and nearly froze to death!! It's like wishful thinking... "surely it must still be summer!" But it's not... it's fall, and fall is best of all!! 😆🥰

    6. I forgot to mention Wyoming Wind by the Bar J!!!

      Delete
    7. I think I’ve discovered a new favourite here!! Wyoming Wind is INCREDIBLE. It’s one of the few I’ve been able to find, and wow! These guys are amazing....

Same here! Except I’m looking from the other side of things😂 Fahrenheit has always been and in all probability will remain to be complete and total confusion to me! Well, except when it comes to ovens. There it’s logical (; Don’t they cross paths when it comes to -30 or something like that?

Ooh, the blessings of autumn.... Already the stars are a million times brighter, the Aurora more brilliant, and that certain something that smells like a crisp sort of cousin to Spring combined with golden-ing leaves and ripe rosehips, is back in the air, so distinctive you could tell the time of year blindfolded.... The trees that literally yesterday were covered in glorious shades of gold are already loosing so many leaves, I doubt there will be a covered bush left by the end of the month! It goes SO fast... Never once do I get a golden birthday🥲😄 Snow, maybe. but somehow white, beautiful though it is, just can’t compete! How long does your Fall last, out of curiosity?

Exactly! It’s crazy how fast we adjust, though. This past week whilst we were working on the potatoes ( FINALLY!!!) it was back up to the low +20’s, and it actually felt downright hot😄 like, thinking of leaping in the dugout kind of hot! So off came the jackets, and yes, even boots, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. With a 6 month winter, you have to stock up on Vitamin D where you can, never mind the sunburn!!

Aaand this is long enough to be a full-sized letter, so I’ll let you go now! Sorry it’s so incredibly long, my keyboard has a way of run away with me😆

    8. They are simply the best!! Tim Hodgson, who plays the fiddle for them, was national champion several years in a row! And they're in the Western Music Hall of Fame. As for Wyoming Wind, which is absolutely one of the most beautiful songs ever, was actually written by Bryan Humphrey! He's the best singer in the group. My mom met the Bar J's years ago when she went out to Wyoming with her family... I've always been jealous that she was able to meet them!! I think she was around seven-ish... she said that Bryan winked at her when she went through the food line and she (in her own words) "fell head over heels in love" LOL! 😆 If you ever have extra spending money (rare for me 😜) and you manage to find some of their cd's or (even better) dvd's for sale, (ebay's the only place...) I assure you, it is worth it!! I collect their music and listen to it on constant repeat... ok, Imma stop raving now 😆

Don't know how on earth Celsius and Farenheit meet up, if at all... Celsius makes absolutely no sense, LOL! It all sounds so much colder... I mean (according to google) that 21 degrees Celsius (which 21 would be frigid in Farenheit) really means 70 degrees!! Which is perfect temperature! Guess it all depends on what you grow up with...

Oh wow... that third paragraph of yours... man, you need to write!! Ooh, ooh, the Aurora!! You must get to see that all the time!!! I am definitely jealous. 😆 Oh, I glory in fall!! I could absolutely live outside these days. Unfortunately, most of our trees haven't turned yet, just a flash of red or gold here or there in endless green. Our fall should last about till early November-ish... it's sad, because I practically live for fall and my birthday misses it just by a few weeks. By that time, it's practically winter. Sometimes even snowing. (Although I love snow, so that's okay.) I really do love late November, even though it's gloomy and grey. Because for some odd reason, I love gloomy and grey weather... sitting inside by the fire with hot cider and a good book... I get chills just thinking about it!!! 💕

Ah, so you're working on potatoes... did you get to finish 28 hours?? LOL, I'm still cracking up over the difference between F and C temperature... low 20's... where I come from, that's too cold to go outside!!! 😂 I guess 20's for us is -6 for you, if google is doing the calculations right.

Man, I am just rambling like never before here... don't worry about length, I think I've got you beat there!!! 😆

    9. In the words of the White Rabbit, I’m Late, I’m Late, I’m Late! Sorry ): one thing after another, as usual.... and if I had sauerkraut under my care, it’d surely have started turning colours and being just generally intrusive in everyday life by this time😂 Whatever happened to those lovely long afternoons we always read about in books? Mine go at the speed of light, and I can’t figure out how Anne ever had time to do everything she did! Let alone go on rambles and explores and discover Echo Lodges and gardens.....

Oh wow, are you serious?! That’s incredible! what an amazing memory☺️ I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for ‘em from here on out! Though my “spare money” fund is usually in the same condition as yours😂

Wait, seriously?! But that means..... our birthdays are only like a month apart! We’re REALLY practically twins😃

Likewise! I could almost see the autumn you just described, and I’m very nearly jealous of the fact that you get so much time to enjoy it😉 I’ll share the Aurora if you’ll share a few weeks of your weather!

I think gloomy grey days are usually just the wrapping paper on the coziest kind! For reading and writing and baking of goodies they are simply unexcelled.... Oh, and speaking of good books, and the people who write ‘em.....have you ever heard of Tessa Afshar?
I’m reading one of her books right now! well.... make that two. Bread of Angels and Thief of Corinth..... Aaaand I’ll try to save the glowing review for some other time, but I highly recommend both of them, particularly if you liked Ben Hur!

Yesss.... I sure did! And had even my imagination stretched to its very limits by it! Bombs?! Brain chips?!? Thank goodness you warned me about a few select things, ( like JASON) or I might’ve fallen over in a dead faint! Well, not completely. Maybe just a prolonged case of hysteria.
But seriously!! Kathy Buchanan is INCREDIBLE. And now I’m severely impatient for the rest of the story😂 And Jillian’s spur-of-the-moment ice cube story for Detective Polehaus....

    10. Life is waaaaay too crazy!! 😏 I'd love to just lounge around, ramble through the woods, read books... all day. I am firmly of the belief that days are shorter now than they used to be!! Or else we just fill them so much more... Ever hear the song "I'm in a hurry to get things done, I rush and rush until life's no fun... all I really gotta do is live and die, but I'm in a hurry and I don't know why!"

Ooh... I'll see what I can do about packaging up a couple weeks of October! I'll be expecting that Aurora!

Oh, exactly!! I love that kind of weather! In fact, I love all kinds of weather, except the tornado kind, that is. I just remember "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!" If it's beautiful to Him, it's beautiful to me!

Tessa Afshar... no, never heard of her! I'm currently binging on Agatha Christies, but I think I've had enough murders to last me a while... the last book had two murders and two attempts at murder in it!! Sheesh...

Anyway, I'll definitely check out her books! If they're similar to Ben-Hur, I'll have to! I simply won't be able to resist the magnetic pull... 😆

Ohhh boy. I certainly developed a prolonged case of hysteria. When Jason... uh... died... I had to pause the story and majorly freak out for about five minutes. Imagine my relief when I turned it back on and he came back to life!!

I'd go so far as to say Kathy Buchanan is their best writer!! But Phil Lollar's history stories are beyond amazing.

    11. Preeecisely!! Isn’t it strange? We, the ones with all the time-savers, “improvements”, and conveniences galore, are busier than they used to be doing it the old fashioned way.... or maybe it just seems that way, but boy, does it!

Ooh, can I join you? That sounds like my dream life😍 maybe throw in a few trips to the United Kingdom... (totally different topic, but I can still hardly believe we have a King again!)

“Can’t be late.... I leave in plenty of time, shaking hands with the clock. I can’t stop. I’m on a roll, and I’m ready to rock!”😂 Alabama, right?

Exactly! It’s all beautiful, because it declares the glory of the One who created it.... Can’t vouch for the tornadoes, but even terrible thunderstorms can be exquisite....
we had one a while back that practically shook the house, but the lightning was so incredible I couldn’t resist watching the show, it was literally like so many fireworks! I never knew lightning came in flowery shapes before🧐Yes, it was probably a bad idea to be so close to a window. Did I get a whole lot of sleep? Well, not exactly.... But would I have even considered missing it? Not hardly! That kind of really crazy weather is at the same time so awe-inspiring, it has a way of reminding a person of how powerful God is.... Like stargazing, it always makes me feel so small😅

Agatha Christie, hmmm. I don’t think I’ve read any of those! I’m guessing from the murders you mentioned that they’re mysteries?
That’s what they reminded me of, at any rate (; hope you enjoy them as much as I do!! I was so excited to find out our public library has all but 3 of her books, and I’m hoping to convince them to get the rest😜 I love finding those “goldmine” authors where you can pick up any book of theirs and know it’s going to be great regardless of what it’s about.... because that’s the only kind they write!
Like Kathy Buchanan (; I would have to agree there!

Oh I know.... like, the sheer tragedy of what could’ve and almost did happen is STILL mind boggling to me!

    2. Ooh I’d love to!! I should probably warn you though, I don’t know nearly all of the Disney characters.... (I grew up without much TV or Wifi) Tho The housekeeper from 101 Dalmations reminds me of Mrs. Jennings, for some reason. The way she looks in my imagination, that is! I’d love to hear what you have so far!
I literally just finished reading S&S, and narrowly escaped forever thinking of Willoughby as a despicable slug😂
      I was absolutely furious with him for about 500 pages!! But that’s my own fault for getting too deep into the story (;

      Delete
    3. We never had a tv, but we have a ton of old VHS tapes… I actually thought of her for Mrs. Jennings! I also thought of Aunt Sarah from Lady and the Tramp…

Wait… Willoughby is a despicable slug, isn't he? I hate him almost as much as Wickham. But Wickham will eternally be the sluggiest of them all 😝

Here are some ideas that I have…

      Elinor: Belle?
Marianne: Ariel? Katrina van Tassel?? Giselle?? Anna?
      Margaret-- Wendy
      Mother
      Edward
      Brandon--Kristoff? John Rolfe?
      Mr. Jennings--Cinderella king??
      Mrs. Jennings--Aunt Sarah
      John Dashwood
Fanny--the evil queen from snow white
      Willoughby--Flynn Ryder?? Prince Naveen?? Hans??
      Lucy--the evil stepsister

You don't have to, but do you want me to start a google doc and we can write it together? I'm feeling daunted 😆

      Delete
    4. I forgot to add that I had just thought of Milo Thatch for Edward...??

  8. Ooh, lucky! That’s awesome.... no wonder you know them so well!

You know what, I don’t have GoogleDocs, but I could get it! It does sound like great fun doing it together.... is it an app? (As you can tell, I’m not very electronically-gifted!)

Yes. He definitely is and always shall be a extraordinary representative of all that is disgusting!! Just, microscopically less so than I previously thought. Remember when Marianne is so sick, the talk he has with Elinor? And I was thrilled with Jane Austen for making him sleep in the bed he made! Even if it turned out to be not always as unpleasant as he made it sound.

Ooh, Aunt Sarah would be great too.... I should watch that again🤔
Giselle for Marianne, maybe? That’s pretty much exactly how my mental picture of her looks, at any rate! Who would you say?
    Milo Thatcher for Edward, definitely!
From all the characters I recognize, you nailed them! There are a ton of names I don’t have any clue who they are, so I’m gonna have to look those up😄

Yeah, I remember that scene. I was glad he tried to apologize but also disgusted at the same time. I was sooo glad when Elinor ordered him out.

If you check out the doc, I have pics up for all the possibilities. I really like Giselle for Marianne, but Ariel has more pictures, so I'm not entirely sure. Let me know what you think! And feel free to edit the doc as much as you want!

I know googledocs doesn't work well on Amazon devices, that could be the problem, if you have an amazon device. Not really sure, but let it load a long time and then try typing. Juliette, didn't know you were so into Western music! I don't think you've mentioned that before!

Anyway, just getting back to you about my stories... still interested in putting them on your blog? Saw that you posted the link to Mary Jane's Diary, that's great. Thanks!! I'd really, really appreciate it if you want to put my stories on here... let me know... thanks!!

    5. This is an interesting development in this already-complicated comment section for sure 😆 Belatedly, JustEmily, meet Seonaid, my "Spider-Man" friend. Incidentally, Emily, are you at all a fan of Spider-Man? I know, I know... that's a rather odd and random question. I tend to be odd and random at times... Anyway. Seonaid and I are co-conspiring to put up a Spider-Man fanfiction page on the blog. So. That's just another of my weird quirks.

    6. Yeah, the blog's great, Juliette! Saw your post on Spider-Man... you just need more of those!! And thanks sooo much for the opportunity to post my stories! I went ahead and sent you all of them so you can put them up whenever. Btw, picked up a new reader today, I am above and beyond thrilled! Good, faithful readers are sadly rare...

Well, glad to meet you, JustEmily! Looks like you're a pretty faithful follower of the blog, hope to get to know you better 😄

    7. Thanks for the introduction, Juliette!
Pleased to meet you, Seonaid (: Actually just realized you wrote Mary Jane’s Diary.... (I thought your name sounded familiar!) Loved it, btw! Even whilst being totally clueless about, well, all of it. I’m looking forward to reading more!
      And same here😀

Juliette- Well.... Literally the only things I know about Spiderman are directly sourced from your post and the aforementioned story, and there I liked what I saw, so....
I guess I have potential to be one! A fan, that is.
Before that, I knew pretty much zilch about the world of Spiderman, and couldn’t have told him apart from Captain Absolutely😂But, between the both of you, you’ve got me convinced to give it a try at the very least😄We’ll see!

    8. You've been reading Mary Jane's Diary?? Wow... that's awesome!! I'm thrilled that you loved it!! The thing about MJ's Diary is that it can technically be read fandom-blind... just you've gotten a whole lot of spoilers since I followed the movie storyline in her diary. With added stuff. If you can, drop me a line or two at some point in the reviews and let me know what you think! I'm always open to thoughts/suggestions and the like.

Oh, btw, since you're not already an established Spider-Man fan, would you do something for me? I've always wanted to do this with someone who hadn't watched any of the movies... the link I'm posting below is a sort of overview of the three movie Spider-Men (there's been three series with different actors...) It's a beautiful video and sort of a good introduction. If you want to, just watch it and let me know which of the three Spider-Men you like best... I'm dying to know the untainted and unbiased opinion of a first-timer from that video!! 😆

    9. Oh, btw, JustEmily, I was wondering if you saw the twist coming in the end of the last chapter of Mary Jane's Diary? As in the part when she discovers Spider-Man's identity? Like... did you guess who he really was?

And also, Idk if Juliette has ever said anything about it, but you should check out her youtube channel 😏

Sorry, Juliette... but I think you should link your channel to your blog... it's really good. I mean seriously. Even if it's not exactly period drama. So I did it for you... 😉

      https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcpVacyclzkuoBE3OPSa31Q/videos

And Juliette, looking forward to seeing that Spider-Man page completed!! Sorry if I'm raving too much... I'm an obsessive fan 😆

      Delete
    10. Sure thing! I’d be happy to😀

And yeah, I can definitely do that! But it may not be totally untainted (; I’ve spent my entire life up until now avoiding all things wearing capes n possessing super powers, so there may be a few mental brakes being applied unconsciously🤣
Also for some reason, the links both don’t seem to work for me though, not sure what the problem is... where would I find the video?

Hmmm, I guess I had my suspicions about who he was, but that might be because I’d already read Juliette’s post!
I didn’t exactly expect the ending this way, though.
It was.... sweet, and sad, and dramatic, and a little scary....
and your heart just kinda breaks for both of them, even tho it’s obvious why it has to be that way. That being said, I don’t usually read graphic, sci-fi-y stories, like, at all, but the Peter and MJ story-within-the-story has me hooked😂

this is the first I’ve heard of a YouTube channel! I guess it never came up in conversation.... what is it called?
It sounds fascinating, my curiosity is definitely piqued!

    11. Hey Emily, the link to Seonaid's video is in my name on this comment, you can just click on that. As for my youtube channel, I'll get that up eventually. 😏

And about avoiding superheroes, that was exactly me too, LOL! I literally can't believe I got as much into it as I did! But I am definitely picky when it comes to superheroes... I really only like one. Pretty much the only one that isn't horribly cringey. I think it's all to do with the amazing love story and the secret identity, which makes it fascinating...

Just wait, Mary Jane's Diary isn't even close to being done! Seonaid let me read her rough draft... we kinda collab. So Peter and MJ have a lot coming up for them. I'm curious... since you really don't know anything about Spider-Man, what you think about the framing story? As in the one outside of the diary... I guess you really don't know what's going on. That would be confusing... I'd tell you too, but Seonaid would prob get mad at me... 😆

I actually have two youtube channels... the one Seonaid is talking about is just Spider-Man music videos I made... (It's called Peter&MJ) the other one I'm gonna use for all my period drama clips and hopefully period drama music videos that I've got ideas for. But the other one is just random right now... nothing really on it but a clip of The Man in the Iron Mask. (Next post on that!! 😄)

      Delete
    12. I’ll keep that in mind, and not wander too far into the world of superheroes then! I abhor cringyness, so you just saved me a whole lot of trial n error (;

Whew, well that’s a relief! I was getting slightly worried
      there😅
You’re right, that part was a little confusing! I tend to skim-read anything I don’t understand, so I’m probably missing rather large pieces of the line of action here....
      Oh we definitely can’t have that! So I’ll try my best to wait (semi) patiently for the rest of it (;

Just saw a bunch of your videos on the new page, they look awesome! Can’t wait to watch them all.... and very thoroughly explore the whole thing😄

      Delete
    13. Hmm, so my device is still refusing to let me access the link.... can you give me the title/keywords and I’ll try to find it that way?

      Delete
    14. Definitely never watch Superman... I couldn't stand it. Worst movie I've ever seen and that's saying a lot... I was feeling cringy for the cringyness... 😆 Seonaid hates that too, but she's a fan of Captain America and Daredevil... They're both okay, but don't think I'll ever get into them. Don't recommend the movies either.

Well, I'd definitely say don't skim too much, you might pick up clues here and there! The framing story is based on one of the comics... with intention to fix the stupidest mistake the writers ever made... Seonaid and I both hate it passionately, but I'd never have had to hate it if she hadn't introduced me to it... 😆 Well, it certainly makes for a fascinating story!!

Glad you like the videos!! Had fun making them 😄 Return to Me is my favorite...

Rats. Gotta hate electronics... the video is called "Spider-Men 2002-2021 by KaiM Edits". Hope you can find it! Seonaid sprang that one on me, but I was already so biased it didn't work 😆 Fabulous video though!! I've watched it nearly half a dozen times...

    15. Oh, I was gonna let you know, Seonaid got two more chapters of MJ's Diary up last night... but the second one is only available on the blog right now, so you might want to just read them from here.

      Delete
    16. Wellll Seonaid, I finally watched it!! And.... I’m probably not allowed to say all 3 of them, right? I know, that’s a really bad answer! But seriously though, it seemed like all three actors brought out different aspects of the character, and I can’t figure out which was truly the most “Spidery”! I will say, I think Andrew Garfield looked the most like what I expected from MJ’s Diary, but then there are elements in both Tobey Maguire n Tom Holiday’s versions that are enough to sway me in both directions at once.... whilst still firmly holding on to that first opinion.... and I’m right back where I started!

Oh what a tangled web I weave, at first attempt to here conceive, which is the best of these great three.... for now, of course as you plainly see, mighty indecision dwells in me! And so this silly rhyme shall end, with my mind as yet unmade.... for sadly, it doth sway and bend, quite incapable of making a singular choice remain!

Ookay, that was ridiculous😝🙄🥴My brain does strange things, and then all of a sudden my fingers are doing even stranger things all over the keyboard! Anyways. Sorry!
My view may quite possibly change after I actually watch the movies, but there you have it! In all it’s unhelpful and occasionally quite absurd glory, the untouched opinion of a first-timer😜

Thanks Juliette! As you can see, it worked🙃 Ooh, can’t wait to read them! And yes, I will (: In fact, I may just restart so I have a better grasp of what all’s going on.... n see to it that I don’t pass over those clues!

    17. Now I’m curious.... you say you were already biased, so towards which actor? Or movie, or whatever😂

      Delete
    18. Oh, you can go ahead and say all three! Because there are aspects of each that I like!! And, btw, there is a movie where all three of them meet 😄 Came out last year! As for the most "spidery", people say that Andrew Garfield acted the most like a real spider. But MJ's Diary is based on Tobey Maguire's movies. Because Tobey Maguire is the best. Period. Tobey Maguire is the best Peter Parker to me the way Jonathan Crombie is the best Gilbert Blythe to Juliette... and trust me. Don't even try to argue Gilbert with Juliette. 😆 I tried, once, just to see how far she'd argue the point. But secretly, I agree with her, so I guess I didn't argue convincingly enough.

So I guess with the three actors, you have to watch their movies to fully understand which is the best. Andrew Garfield's movies were, sadly, very poorly done and he had some terribly cringy lines. I feel like he was wasted, because he was a great Spider-Man. Though very much not the best. Actually, he wasn't anything like I pictured Peter Parker before watching the movies, but he did do really well with what they gave him. (even though I hate the Spider-Man suit)... A few interesting points... the lizard villain substory in MJ's Diary is based on Andrew Garfield's movies. Also, there is no MJ in his movies, but an earlier girlfriend from the comics, Gwen Stacy. She (spoiler alert!!!) dies in the second movie and it's technically Peter's fault... it's totally heartbreaking. See if you can get Juliette to upload her music video "Gone Too Soon" and then see if you can watch it without crying!!

As for Tom Holland's movies, he's a great actor and more the age Peter was from the comics. And he's all around hilarious!! But the problem is, they stuck him into the Marvel universe, so he's basically just a random kid messing around with superpowers until he gets noticed by Iron Man, a superhero who runs the Avengers... a network of hundreds of superheroes, a lot of them who don't even have secret identities. They give him a multi-million dollar extreme high-tech suit so that he's not even Spider-Man by his own abilities. I was terribly, horribly disappointed by the storylines of those films. Also, there is an MJ in Tom Holland's movies, but it's a Michelle Jones. She's a sort of emo character, not anything at all like Mary Jane.

Tobey Maguire's movies are the only ones, imo, that aren't cheesy. The score just sweeps your heart away, to begin with, the stunts are magnificent, the filming breathtaking. MJ's Diary follows the storyline of his three films very faithfully. If you want to watch Spider-Man (and I really, really, really hope you do!!) I would suggest starting with Tobey's films and then see if you want to go on from there.

And then, definitely watch No Way Home. It's mostly Tom Holland's movie, and there's some weird wizardry in it, which is not that great, but essentially, all three Spider-Men are brought into the same "universe" (that's another creepy thing I don't like, that weird mulit-verse thing) but basically, I just like it because they all get to meet. And they have an epic battle together at the end, where they actually cure all the villains from all their collective films. Watch Juliette's music video "From This Moment" which has a scene from No Way Home in the beginning. Actually, on second thought, you might not want to watch that until you finish MJ's Diary or else... spoilers 😏

Haha!!! That rhyme was awesome!!! 🤣

    19. Hey, Juliette, are you knocking on Daredevil and Captain America? Don't listen to her, Emily! 😆 Okay, so the Daredevil movie isn't great. And it has a... um... scene in it that needs fastforwarded... but Captain America is a great movie!! If you can handle the villain, who is horribly creepy. I know Juliette hates him. But the superheroes themselves are great!! Daredevil is actually a blind lawyer... that makes him all the more fascinating! But, tbh, Spider-Man is the only superhero worth really obsessing over.

Sorry, both of you, I rambled and ranted and raved as usual. That's just me... when I get going on my favorite subject, I never stop!!

Oh, Emily, if you have any questions, even random minor details about Spider-Man and MJ's Diary, let me know!! I'd be glad to answer (in prob too many words 😆) unless it's a major spoiler.

    20. Man, it must be like reading a mystery novel to you!! I almost wish I could've read it without other knowledge!!

As for being biased, I'm 110% for Tobey. Tom is cute and Andrew is good, but Tobey is PERFECT. tbh, I wouldn't even bother with the other films... I mean, they have their good points, but they're nowhere near as good as Tobey's movies.

Whoooaaaa Seonaid... that comment... uh... comments 😳 Did you exceed the limit?? 😆

    21. Oh, and one other thing, Emily... Tobey is the only Spider-Man who can shoot webs out of his wrists! The other two had to make webshooters...

    22. Let me just start off by saying I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply! over the course of the past week, I’ve been out of service area for days at a time, “camped out” in below zero weather, attempted to construct a teepee.... (n as lil sis put it, it was a good thing there were no true woodsmen in our midst, or we’d surely have been laughed out of Teepee Town😆) and in the process, as I’m brilliant at doing, completely neglected all electronic devices.

Oh don’t worry, I wouldn’t dare😜 I stick to my guns on the subject of Jonathan Crombie QUITE adamantly my own self, so you definitely won’t get any argument from me on that matter!
I think I’m still processing the info, but if Tobey Maguire can be compared with him, I’m pretty near certain he’ll end up being my final favourite as well! Because if there’s anything I can’t stand, it’s cheesy, mediocre movies where the heroes have to make their own web-shooters..... Well, just kidding about that last one😂 seriously tho, I’m the first to stick my head under a pillow at cringily uncomfortable moments! (Must be the 1/16th% Austrian in me showing in Ostrich-ish-ness) And okay fine, so he also just sounds like an overall fall-in-love-withable guy! But if anyone asks....I never said that😉
Sooner or later I’ll manage to actually make time to watch it.... and I do hope it’s sooner rather than later.... because I’m thoroughly entranced! You two make a pretty strong case, know that?

Will do! I’m likely to have questions by the dozens in the process of re-reading in depth, so you may end up regretting it.... just a heads up🙃

Can’t believe I actually left that thing in😬gleeps....

It really does! And it’s a good thing I’m not a detective, or I’d be fired in a matter of minutes😂 looking forward to reading it with a magnifying glass! (Colloquially speaking, of course ;) hopefully this weekend!

    23. Just realized I don’t remember if I properly completed that last comment🤭 I have this habit of typing the gist of my messages into Notes, and typing different sections all in the wrong order.... and being so busy typing the last bit on here, I forget what I did before. So if my comments occasionally seem a bit fractured, or I left a sentence unfinished.... that’s what happened!

    24. You don't have to feel bad about taking long to reply!! I do that too... just remembered there's another comment somewhere up above that I need to reply too... Anyway, sounds like you had fun! (Love your sister's sense of humor 😆) It's really good to periodically get away from the 21st century and just have fun doing something old-fashioned... Sounds like you were cold too... my sisters went camping yesterday with some friends... tried to get me to go, but I backed out, seeing as it was 35 degrees... oops, I mean 1 degree Celsius. Went to a costume party at work instead (for the daycare kids) and nearly got sick just on the hayrack ride! Glad I could get home to a hot shower and warm bed.

Comparing Tobey Maguire to Jonathan Crombie might be a bit extreme *glares at Seonaid* but he really is wonderful. Exactly, Emily, sticking my head under a pillow proved to be a relief at certain spots of some of those movies 😆 Although Tobey's movies have a scene or two that... um... well, let's just say that I can't wait to see your reaction to the infamous "Bully Maguire" scene 😆 I can safely say that's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen... the first time I watched it, I was cringing in misery, the second time, I was slightly perturbed, and by the third time, I was laughing hysterically. Ahem. Anyway.

Yes, don't tell anyone I agree with you, but he is fall-in-love-withable... 😆 He's really sweet. Spent half the films feeling sorry for him actually...

Ooh.... if you do watch the films (which is awesome) I'd better warn you... (before Seonaid starts raving again 😆) There are a few terrifying scenes. In Spider-Man 1, pretty much every scene with the Green Goblin is pretty spooky, since the guy is totally whacked. The final battle is kind of gory too, since Peter pretty much gets the tar beat out of him... (they had to really tone this scene down, apparently, to save the film from an R rating... 😳) But all in all, it's not terrible. You just might have to look away a couple of times. Spider-Man 2 is the least terrifying of all three of them since Doc Ock isn't nearly as scary of a villain. (That's the tentacled guy who kidnapped MJ) There's one scene where he wakes up in the hospital and for a minute or two, it's briefly like a horror movie. As for Spider-Man 3 (enter Bully Maguire!) it's the most complex of the three films. Beware the villain called Venom (more on all that when Seonaid gets more chapters of MJ's Diary up, cause that's coming next!) Venom is terrifying. But I'm trying to be careful and not say too much, or Seonaid will be mad. She's never had a reader new to Spider-Man before and I think she's thrilled 😏 As for inappropriate scenes, according to the parent guide, the only scenes considered inappropriate are a few kisses and some scenes where Peter has his shirt off. And the dance scene in Spider-Man 3, which is mostly just weird. (I checked it all out before I watched it, so I wouldn't accidentally see anything I didn't want to see, but it wasn't hardly worthy of a PG13 rating. Just thought I'd let ya know.)

    25. Annnd finally I’m back. Again.

Somewhere up above is right😅I’d totally forgotten about that! Definitely only reply to it if you really feel like it....

Right?! I’m forever telling my little sisters how we never needed wifi to entertain ourselves back in the day, ( okay, that makes me sound ancient, but still!) and painting them word-pictures of delightful days spent building hidey-huts in the woods and riding goats (true story) whilst they listen quite sceptically.... until we get into the woods, and then they’re having the time of their lives, although I’ve never heard ‘em admit to it yet😜 So glad I’m not a City Girl....

Ooh, I haven’t been on a hayride in ages!! Those can be so fun.... when it’s warm, at least😝Hope you recovered quickly from the side effects!

Glad I’m not the only one😂
Thanks a bunch for the heads up!! not overly fond of terrifying villains, truth be told.... (I’ve been accused of having a lightning hand on the skip-button when they come on) so I’ll be keeping an eye out for this Venom guy! Can’t wait to hear more about him.... sounds like he’s a pretty big deal! I’ve been trying to figure out who’s the Dr. Blagaard/Chairman behind all of this, and failing miserably😆Now, only answer this if you safely can without incurring the wrath of the author, ( just kidding!) but are all these villains connected, or do they just work independently?

Bully Maguire, hmmm.... can’t imagine what that’s going to be about, but from the sound of things, if at first I don’t like what I see.... I’ll just have to watch it again until that remedies itself! Or something along those lines😄

Well, having just sent a whole barrage of comments on the Spider-man page in addition to this.... I should sign off before I cause an overload!

    26. And I am back as well! 😆 I've been off for a looong time actually, except now and again to publish comments and check on stats... internet connection's been real bad and there is soooo much going on!!

Oh, I've totally ridden goats too 😆 And I feel dumb about criticizing wifi when here I am writing a blog, but yeah. I was born in the wrong era. I suppose if I was born back then, I'd have had to publish a magazine instead. Absolutely!! God blessed me when He placed me in the country.

I'm fine now 😏 Just allergies. Always allergies. I've learned to live with them...

Yeah, they can all be really scary... that's sci-fi for you, I guess. I'm surprised though how much I enjoyed the fight scenes... I usually don't like those unless it's a cowboy wielding a six-shooter or something like that... but there's something fascinating about the way Spider-Man fights. You'll see what I mean when you watch the movies... his stunts are incredible. Honestly, the worst things are the jump scares... once you get used to seeing a villain, from then on, you're just on the edge of your seat to see what happens next... And speaking of jumpscares, I'm afraid I'll never ever get used to those... even now that I know when they happen. They get me every time 😆

I'm putting up the next chapter of MJ's Diary tonight for Seonaid... maybe two...? So you'll meet Venom very soon. Hopefully he doesn't give you nightmares 😆 But of course, he isn't even half as scary from MJ's perspective as he is live on the screen.

Oh yeah... I can safely answer that. Three of the villains are connected to each other and all are connected to Peter. I'm not telling you in what way though... yet... except that Doc Ock and the Green Goblin were friends in real life. And Doc Ock worked for Harry before he became a monster. It's pretty complicated with all the science stuff, but Harry inherits his father's business (OsCorp) and it's reaaaaaaally advanced science tech. (this is where most of the monsters come from, tbh... but it's an accident)

As for Bully Maguire, if you're prepared to see this, look up "Peter Parker Evil's Dance Scene Spider-Man 3" and that's the internet sensation aka Bully Maguire. Let me know what you think 😆 As for the reason Peter's acting like that, it's not really his fault and you'll find out why later in MJ's Diary.

Oh please, comment all you want!! You make my day 😄

    27. Ahh life.... it’s like, anytime things go especially smooth, that’s the time to be keeping your eyes peeled for major curveballs! And when it’s going, well, Not So smooth.... Basically anytime, so long as a person isn’t expecting it!
Like the fact that we got 2 inches of lovely wintery snow this past week, only to have an energetic (35 Km per hour!) southwind make off with everything that wasn’t nailed down.... high-flying pails, doormats, and every last bit of snow included. So now it looks just like summer again!

That’s exactly what I was thinking😂 just because we’re capable of comfortably managing to entertain ourselves without it, doesn’t mean we don’t thoroughly enjoy putting the stuff to good use ;) What you said about writing a magazine reminds me of the newspaper from The Story Girl.... ( or was it The Golden Road?) that could actually be a lot of fun!

🤗And here I always thought I was the only one who did that! Good times, eh? 🤣My favourite “steed” was always this nasty tempered+long horned old nanny we called Ginger.... and who lived up to her name on a daily basis. When she wasn’t jumping the fence (or already had) or harassing the dog, she could generally be found demolishing our raspberry bushes by the mouthful....and how we did mourn those berries! her horns did make a pretty great steering wheel, though, just so I say at least one positive thing about the infamous beastie😜

And I know I said it on the new post, but I’m so excited that you’re reading Tessa Afshar!!! Can’t wait to hear what you thought of her writing style.... and which book, come to think of it. I actually got her newsletter in my emails today, and was over the moon when I discovered that she shared a sneak-peek of her newest book.... as in the whole prologue n 1st chapter.... And now I wish I hadn’t read them both, because the book hasn’t been released yet, and I’m so impatient for the rest😆 I should know better!! Actually I do, and I did it anyway, so yeah. Just because I had it coming doesn’t make it easier to wait!

Goodness me, what a scene.... I watched the video like you suggested, (before I read the chapter about it, which lessened the confusion somewhat ;) and YIKES. Strange doesn’t even begin to describe it.... but at the same time, it was magnetic in a way. As in it insisted upon being watched more than once.... and left me curiouser ( is that a word?) afterward than I was when I started😄 it’s so strange.... and now that I’ve read the corresponding part of the story/been blessed with a few spoilers, (Thanks, Seonaid!) I have to say that black suit freaks me out a bit😝 Poor Peter....
I literally have dreamed about all this stuff since I began re-reading, although my subconscious brain seems to latch onto mostly the Peter+MJ part, which I don’t mind dreaming about at all😉

      Happy to! It makes mine to be in such good company (;
Seems like stray thoughts n potential scribbles I don’t have time to write down during the day/week tend to spill over here, and start blossoming all over the place at a tremendous rate.... like this comment-epistle is doing right now! Think I’ll sign off on this one, and go reply to the others before this gets out of control😏

    28. Snow in October. Amazing. We're still in fall here!! And my poor siblings are desperately trying to sled on a patch of frost 😆

The goat I've ridden is a particularly wicked creature named Skipper who has one twisted horn, thanks to a botched dehorning job.

Ooh yes, I enjoyed her book so much!! I need to get some more… there was a sneak peek at the end of the book I read for one of her others and now I must read that book or die trying!! You've found a new favorite for me 😄

Ahaha the Bully Maguire scene. I forgot we were talking about that… 🤣 It really is the most bizarre thing ever. When I first watched it, I was like THEY'VE RUINED PETER PARKER AND NOW THEY MUST DIIIIEEE 😡 But, as you can see, I got over it quickly and became a sort of fan of the scene, in a strange sort of way… 😂 It does freak me out though.

One of the most interesting things about that scene is that Tobey Maguire improvised most of it. Like, they told him what they wanted and just let him go to town on it. He made up the whole cookie thing… 🤣 A commentary I watched said he's supposed to look like an "angry, dorky rock star". 🤣

  18. 😯 I’m not sure whether to be slightly jealous that you get a whole SEASON worth of Fall.... or feel heartily sorry for you for the same reason! No Snow?! Aww, my sympathies to your siblings....
We haven’t quite reached snowmobiling weather yet, but regardless of that, a few impatient folks are already trying out their snow-toys.... it seems like the beginning of winter brings out the young-at-heart in people!!

Thrilled to hear it!! I’m funny, but a book is always worth twice as much to me if I get to share it with someone who’ll enjoy it as much as I did😂

That’s EXACTLY how he came across🤣 and here I thought it was written that way on purpose!

Aaand my device is saying it’s nearly dead, so I better quit while I’m ahead here!

  19. This is totally random, but I have to ask.... Have you ever read the sassy&sunny blog? I just came across it in my internet rambles, and for some reason, Hadassah reminds me so much of you.... in terms of siblings n farms and favourite seasons, at least! Think you’d enjoy it (:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any writer, in possession of a blog, must be in want of comments!
