True North Strong And Free
You know when you're so tired you could fall asleep on the spot, and suddenly realize that this is Canada Day, and you never got (or even thought to, shamefaced me XD) around to writing a properly patriotic post for the occasion?? No? Just me, then, I guess😆 Because that's preeeeecisely what happened this morning. And I then went on to make meals and tidy up the house, and got only a teeny wee scrap of a post written even after I DID realize this fact XD Gulp and ahem. (This marks the second year in my two year blogging career that I've done this, too, if memory serves... Aren't I accomplished??)
This, of course, does not mean I love my country any less. Just so you know, Canada ;) Forgive me if I do not attain to any great level of eloquence, it is merely the sleepies taking over, and no reflection of my patriotism, I promise XD
After all, it has been home to the Not-Starrs for the past 150 years, has the Great White North. It's taken us in as emigrants, sheltered us, stormed at us fiercely, and even flooded but good a cabin or two whilst my great-greats were settling into a new frontier.... And the love of the wooded places that was firmly planted in those particular pioneers along the way has firm hold of us to this very day. Yes, inflation makes us goggle, and Beaver Bucks are not exactly at their very best, but it's CANADA, people. And there's an awful lot to love ;) Come visit, and you'll see.... (It's said that if you drink of the water of the Peace River, you'll always come back to it.... So mind you be careful what you drink, or we may just keep you😜😄)
Also I am too done in to make any more of a go of this, so it has no alternative but to rough it just a tad this time around, I guess XD
Happy 158th birthday, Canada.... I am very glad to live in you, even if I have not many words to say it in.
Exhaustedly,
Emi
Happy belated Canada Day, my dear Canadian friend! (And *I* think it's a lovely post, whether it had much planning or not. I love hearing people be patriotic. :D)
ReplyDelete(But also get some sleep, you poor thing! *passes over a pillow*)
Delete🥳Happy belated Canada Day! (secret: I thought I posted this last night, and then I woke up, and it hadn't been after all.... But blogger very sweetly let me post it as if it was still July 1st anyway XD)
Awww, that's sweet of you😜😄 Being all patriotic IS fun, isn't it?? *Takes the pillow gratefully* Would you believe it, even after a night-ish of sleep, I still would have no objections to trying it out on the spot? I must be buying the wrong brand of sleep XD
Ooh, that is a Very Useful Trick indeed. I've noticed that option on Wordpress too, but haven't often gotten to take advantage of it...
Delete'Tis indeed! :D Oh, I am sorry to hear that...and I can sympathize, because still feeling tired just after having slept is a sad but real phenomenon. Perhaps our brains like the sleep so much they want to pressure us into getting more as soon as possible xD
Handy trick to keep around for when one needs it, isn't it??
DeleteAnd they're very convincing, too XD
I think I'm semi-cured now, though! The sleepies got to be so persuasive, I went to bed at 8:30, and woke up much refreshed the next morning! (Bit drastic, but it worked ;)
Happy 158th birthday, dear friend Canada!
ReplyDeleteA lovely patriotic post, Emi! :)
Aww, I'm glad you think so ;)
DeleteHappy extremely belated Canada Day! Sorry not to have commented before! I love patriotic posts :)
ReplyDeleteOh, 'tis STILL a Happy Day In Canada, so it comes at the perfect time ;) Aren't they fun??
