Ahhh, so you’ve found me!! I’ve been hoping you would (; Have you had a nice walk? Such a lovely day we’re having, like just a snippet of  June in September!

Not that it really is, of course, but with a touch of imagination….

Oh, but let’s not stand here talking through the gate, love!

It keeps the neighborhood chickens out, (I love them, but my roses don’t…. And one must always make allowances for the feelings of roses!) but never a friend of the house….

Do come in, and I bid you a hearty Welcome to Wordingly Cottage! Do you like Scotch Shortbread, I wonder? Because it would really just be too convenient if you did, me having just pulled a pan-full out of the oven a moment ago…. I believe it’s still warm, too, if you fancy a crumb and a nice cup of coffee! Milk and sugar, my dear?

It’s really very lucky you happened along when you did, because you see, I have a bit of a confession to make here, and I must make it to Somebody…. And not just anybody would do, you know, it must be the right kind of a somebody. Just fancy confessing to a milkman, or the blacksmith! Goodness, I’d frighten myself witless just trying to work up the nerve, and even then they wouldn’t really understand!

But you’re the right sort, I can feel it, and I’m not afraid to tell you a bit.

Although you may want to sit down for this…. I’m not familiar with your nerves, you see, and it is wise to be careful. So, if  you’ve found a comfortable seat to sink into, in the event that the shock proves too great to handle unsupported…. (And may I suggest the willow rocker, tis a personal favourite…. So soothing!) I shall get on with the actual ‘fessing up. Oh dear, that’s right…. You already were sitting! Perhaps I AM a little nervous after all, hmm?

Well then, there is nothing to further hinder us, (or to hide behind) and we may begin!

It is this.

I read the dictionary. For fun, and inspiration, and just plain the joy of discovering new shades of possibility…. No, honestly!!! I love it, and I care not a whit (No, not that Whit!) whether it sounds cuckoo, or excessively Eugene-ish, I just can’t help it. Words thrill me, and finding a new beauty to add to my palette, be it long and rich in syllables, or compact and character filled, always makes me want to “paint” with it. Share it with someone who will get the same delight out of it, right then and there.

Which is why I am hereby creating a li’l corner cupboard to keep my loveliest discoveries in, a sort of baby cousin of the Scribblers Snug!

And since it has been created, allow me to introduce you to its very first occupant….

Because I’ve just discovered such a word, one I never knew existed before. Which is admittedly odd, because it means something I do every time I put pen to paper! I shall put it down below, and you must tell me whether this is a perfectly common word that I have somehow missed out on til now, or whether ‘tis new to you too!

Epistolary, now, this is a bonus word that I am sticking in just because it fits! It was, so I am told, formed from the noun epistle, which refers to a composition written in the form of a letter to a particular person or group. So it means to convey through letters, information going personally from someone to someone else….

So pretty much, the contents of this entire page will be Emi Epistolarily Expatiating! Nothing terribly big, just me indulging in a grand ramble on some newly discovered jewel every now and again….

And rats, there I go switching personalities again😆 I assure you , until this very moment I was Mrs. Fiona Cockwing!! (Corcoran, really, but ever since the time little Jimmi Johnson learned to talk, she has been known to the world as the aforementioned…. And it suits her so perfectly, we secretly thank him for it ;) I’m really not me on this one at all. On all the rest I am, but not here….

At least, down to about where the actual confession begins, and I’m afraid the seam shows! But Mrs. Cockwing took over after the gate inserted itself, and cottage and all, tis thoroughly her domain now🤷‍♀️

Words, Words, Wondrous Words!!! They create worlds, lead you into them, and all you need are Scrappy Hats and imaginations to go off on glorious adventures (;

But, whether we are one or rather two…. (Says I who visit frequently on account of the shortbread ;) Ye shall know us for who we be, and by the fruits that grow on our rosebushes!! And so it is that we, the both of us, do bid  you a hearty good day, and a Come Again Soon!!

Oh, and here it is, as promised! The newly discovered word….

Which I shall keep in the cupboard right beside the peppermint jar, along with all the rest I happen upon. And every once in a while one of the kiddies will leave an unexpected tidbit in there when they visit after school, so you really never know what you’ll find in here!
