Down The Rabbit Hole

There now! Wasn’t that a lovely little tumble?? * Dusts off her skirts and tucks a curl behind one ear*

I’m SO glad you came.… I always do enjoy it immensely my own self, but it’s twice as much fun with company (;

Do come along, now…. Just one more corner to tiptoe around, and we’ll be there!! Only, WHICH corner you tiptoe ’round will make rather a big difference in where we end up, you see, and consequently, where “THERE” is….

What’s this you say? Are you absolutely certain we must tiptoe, Emi? Is this really so critically important? Why exactly can’t we just walk in like well-behaved-and-brought-up individuals?? Well now….

To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know ‘xackly what the real reason is myself! But I’ve always thought it safest to stick to the rules all the same…. Because “something might happen, it’s hard to say what”, you know!! And besides, it’s fun (;

But back to the corners, and which to go ‘round!! We really must choose one, y’know, or we’ll just never get anywhere…. And, while that might be fun if we’d thought to pack a picnic, too many hours stranded without so much as Raspberry Soda are never overly pleasant!!

Now, I know I’ve got a map with me here someplace, let me check my pockets…. Ahhh, here it is!! So…. Just holler when you see the right place, ‘kay?  Ahem. It says here that two lefts and a quarter turn will take us directly to the Scribbler’s Snug, which is always a glorious place to play Rainy Day in…. *Continues reading aloud* Double back 3 paces and peer over your right shoulder, (or just turn around, that works too!) and you should see a darling bit of a cottage, all crimson-splashed and vine-wreathed…. The pride of all Wordingly Lane, it is!

Or at least, if we are to believe everything the map says. It seems to be an extremely detailed sort of a thing, doesn’t it? Must be about half GPS, too, from the looks of it. Anyways. Carrying on!!

“Merrily Yours”…. Jeepers, now what do you suppose that means?? Could be just about anything, looks like, just so long as it’s jolly! Shall we hazard a peep?? It’s just back through that little gap in the picket fence over yonder, the map says, across the meadow…. See, where all the little Fairy Glass rainbows are oh-so blithely dancing! Oh, I feel precisely like a Wise Man (er, girl. Of less-than-monumental wisdom. But still!!!)  following a star, don’t you?? Provided, of course, we decide to go that way.

It looks like it is to be a toss-up between these three…. Because the rest of the map appears to have bathed luxuriously in over-steeped tea at some point, and the ink has run…. All except where the kitten walked first on my still-wet-with-ink scribble, and then on the map, as a matter of course. That part is bee-yoo-tifly clear. (And that incident, by the by, is also why we named him Smudge)

Of course, one must always keep in mind that there are a very great many side tunnels and nooks-and-crannies that even I haven’t deeply explored yet, and there IS always the delicious possibility we could get lost…. Just a little bit lost, you know, because we’ve got the map, but we can always sit on it and play Pretending!

But regardless, now is the time for action!! We must simply choose a route, and sally forth with both courage and appetites whetted for adventure. Are you ready? Well then, press the red button!! No, wait. Actually, pardon me, it’s a blue button… Slip of the tongue ;p

But the instructions remain the same!

Here, you may borrow the map (;

Merrily Yours

Dear me🫢 I just counted, and there are quite literally more than half a dozen quotes, references, and nods-to-literature here….

In this Deciding-Where-To-Go place alone!! I knew I was bad, but I didn’t know I was THAT bad…. However, dreadful as that really is…. Let me know if you spot any of them (; Like Julie before me, I adore comments the way most girls love chocolate….

  1. Eeheehee, I recognized the Raspberry Soda and red button references! Maybe if I go back and read more carefully, I might pick up on a couple more. I tend to quote a lot when I write, too, so don't apologize! Though you certainly far exceed me in the skill of quoting. :)

    Speaking of writing . . . I actually started my own blog about a month ago. :O I started it partly due to all the fun I've had here, and was so looking forward to telling you and Julie (her enthusiasm is contagious!). I hesitated because I was still trying to figure out the Technology. I'd be delighted if you visited me there! We're blogging buddies now!

    Also, your last sentence about comments and chocolate . . . Do you dislike chocolate??

    1. Ohh, let me see if I remember them all😆 I wrote this a really really long time ago…. And I’m not even sure how many I could find myself now😂 We’ll call this a cheat sheet (;

      1. “Something might happen, it’s hard to say what.” came from Dr Seuss’s Gustav The Goldfish…. (I quote him almost as often as I do Odyssey😂)

      2. The raspberry soda you caught!

      3. The fairy glass is from the original Idlewood, and the rainbows of it, from Pollyanna.

      4. The Wise Men are self-explanatory, as is the star that went with them!

      5. Now, this one is obscure…. But I snitched the kitten’s name from one of my absolute favourite books in the whole world, The Maggie Bright, by Tracy Groot….

      6. Annnnd the red button finishes off the list😜 Or at least I can’t think of any more!

      Ohhh but that’s the most wonderful news!!! Introduce me to it, please??? I’m dying to see it now!! As far as technology goes, I’m having technical difficulties left right n centre, so maybe we can help each other out! Blogging buddies, ohhh that has such a lovely ring to it🤗

      Oh no, I do love chocolate! But if I had to choose between it and comments, the comments would come out on top😄

    2. Aww, Dr. Seuss! That's so fun. Oh, yes, I should have noticed the fairy glass.

      I have the blog linked in my name. ;) It's on a different platform, not blogger, so I'm not sure if we would understand each other's technology... But emotional support and all that. :P

      Oh, gotcha! I have to admit chocolate is one of my Favorite Things. :D

  2. I know I already commented on the blog itself, but ohhhh Ruth it is the stuff dreams are made of! I cannot believe you’ve only been at this for one month, it is INCREDIBLE😯 I feel like I should be taking notes…. And lessons!

    True enough, that might pose a small problem at that…. Oh well, for the stuff that really matters it still works beautifully (:

    Ohhh now visions of thunderstorms and little girls in white nighties are dancing in my head😄

It is a truth universally acknowledged that any writer, in possession of a blog, must be in want of comments!
